What made you join Inglewood on Beaufort?
I always have taken an interest in my local area without doing much about it, but when, with other like-minded people Inglewood on Beaufort was formed, I thought I had something to offer and thought I could make a positive difference to my community. So… I took the plunge, first as a Member and then on Committee, it’s been a really enjoyable ride.
What do you enjoy about being in Inglewood on Beaufort?
Doing things in our community that I think will make a difference to our every day, making it happen and seeing if it works!

What made you join Inglewood on Beaufort?
I grew up in the Wheatbelt and always loved the strong sense of community. I moved into the neighbourhood with my now husband after we spent some time living in Buenos Aires. We loved the amount of street life there and was surprised by just how quiet Perth suburbs can be. When I found out a community group was working to introduce more life and energy into our beloved Beaufort Street, I couldn’t help but get involved. That was 7 years ago now! I love that I get to have a say in what goes on in Inglewood and relish the opportunity to bring people together.
What do you enjoy about being in Inglewood on Beaufort?
Having a community where people know and look out for each other is incredibly important to me. I firmly believe that the more people have a sense of belonging and connection, the happier and more fulfilled we are. I love that Inglewood’s welcoming and friendly community identity has now spread to our main street, which is no longer a place people would drive through but now somewhere people make an effort to visit for our ever-growing range of amazing businesses and beautiful public spaces.

What made you join Inglewood on Beaufort?
I joined IOB in February 2022 to help make a difference and improve Inglewood for the community. With my landscape architectural background, I was inspired by IoB’s multi-award winning Inglenooks project and was excited to contribute to the next place activation project.
What do you enjoy about being in Inglewood on Beaufort?
I moved to Inglewood over 2 years ago and love living in the ‘hood!
I enjoy good food (whether it be dining out, takeaway on the couch or whipped up at home), walking my dog, lawn bowls and community events.
As a landscape architect, I’m dedicated to creating functional and dynamic spaces for people while being an advocate for the environment.
Josh Wells – Marketing & Communications
What made you join Inglewood on Beaufort?
IoB advertised for a marketing & comms person and it must have fit my outlook because a LOT of people told me to apply for it. I didn’t know much about what we did at first outside the Night Markets and that we seemed to be winning a new award for the Inglenooks every week.
What do you enjoy about being in Inglewood on Beaufort?
IoB already had a well-defined voice, but I love being a miniature creative agency dedicated to highlighting everything there is to love out about our main street! Everyone, EVERYONE who I talk to mentions that. it feels like a small town here, and I think IoB contribute a lot to that sense of community.

I have previously volunteered for other organisations (Conservation Volunteers , C.O.S) and went along to the relaunch of IOB in 2019. I was inspired by the sense of community. It seemed like a more tangible thing to be involved in and something closer to home.

Aaron Sta Maria – Committee Member
What made you join Inglewood on Beaufort?
I joined Inglewood on Beaufort back in 2016, helping out with the Monday Night Markets alongside a small team of dedicated volunteers, supported by my interest in community development and urban planning.
Inglewood on Beaufort were trailblazers, and there wasn’t really another community organisation like in anywhere — a community-led, community-based initiative giving all of its revenue after costs back to local events, community programmes, stewardship, placemaking, and place activation.
I have been privileged to be able to see Inglewood on Beaufort evolve and adapt, and with the support of our local communities (including at our flagship Monday Night Markets) we have been able deliver meaningful initiatives and programmes which have contributed to the vibrancy and vitality of the local Inglewood area.
What do you enjoy about being in Inglewood on Beaufort?
Inglewood on Beaufort is an awesome community-based initiative. I enjoy seeing people experience and enjoy new things throughout the ‘wood and being able to contribute to the many initiatives we deliver to help build a greater sense of community and belonging.

What made you join Inglewood on Beaufort?
I am an Architect and Urbanist new to Australia, living in Inglewood. When I learned about IoB and its projects I knew that I wanted to volunteer.
What do you enjoy about being in Inglewood on Beaufort?
I believe that the most liveable and lovable places around the world are the result of effective co-creation between the community and different stakeholders. I hope to contribute with the design and place knowledge that I gained while working with communities in India, Germany, Serbia, and France to my new Australian neighborhood, Inglewood.
